01 / Find the right help
Start with how you use your garage.
Choose the path that fits your project. Each guide explains what to check, what affects the scope and what to have ready when you call.
Appearance that fits the home
Compare panel profiles, colors and window placement alongside your siding and entryway. Bring a photo of the whole frontage, not just the opening.
Explore service 02Insulation and weather sealing
Explain whether the garage is attached, used as a workspace or mainly for parking. Compare construction and perimeter seals together rather than choosing by a panel rating alone.
Explore service 03The opener and available clearance
Review ceiling space, existing tracks, door weight and compatible controls. A new door and an existing opener need to be assessed as one operating system.
Explore service 04Everyday pedestrian access
Tell us whether you need to enter on foot without raising the full door. Our Portland pass-door project shows one integrated option to discuss during your estimate.
Explore service02 / A Portland installation
There’s a door inside this garage door.
A bike ride, a trip to the washer or a quick visit to the garage does not always need the whole door open. This Portland installation combines a three-layer insulated Amarr garage door with an integrated, steel-framed pass door.
The walk-through was built into the door assembly. This project is an example to discuss—not a reason to cut an opening in an existing door.

03 / Know what happens next
A clear plan before the work begins.
- 01
Tell us about the opening
Share the address, door position and access concerns. For a new door, tell us what you want to change and bring photos or approximate measurements.
- 02
Check the complete system
Door panels, springs, tracks, cables and the opener work together. The assessment needs to consider their condition and compatibility, plus the available space.
- 03
Review your options
Discuss the diagnosis or design, parts, labor, fees and what is included. Separate essential work from optional upgrades before approving the quote.
- 04
Understand the finished work
Review operation, care and the written terms for the selected products and work. Ask about any remaining limitations and keep the job paperwork.
04 / Pricing without guesswork
Free estimates on new garage doors.
An $89 diagnostic fee applies to most service visits and is additional to parts, labor, and tax. If D&L completes the approved repair or installation during the same visit, the fee is credited toward that work. After-hours or urgent-service surcharges may apply.
Final pricing depends on the diagnosis, compatible parts, door size, access and agreed work. New-door estimates and repair diagnostics are different appointments; tell us which one you need.

- What failed, and what can remain?
- Which parts and labor are included?
- Are removal, access equipment or extra visits needed?
- What written product and workmanship terms apply?

Portland garage door installation questions
What does a new garage door estimate cover?
Discuss the door, track and spring system, installation labor, removal, opener compatibility and any opening preparation. Confirm which items are included in the written quote. Free new-door estimates do not make separate repairs or structural work free.
Can you add a pass door to my current garage door?
Our featured Portland project documents a door supplied with an integrated steel-framed pass door. It does not establish that an existing door can be cut or converted safely. Ask for an assessment of an appropriate complete assembly and its operator requirements.
Does an insulated door make sense for my garage?
Consider how the garage is used, whether it connects to occupied rooms, existing air gaps, the opening and the selected door construction. Compare the complete assembly and seals rather than assuming an insulation number guarantees a comfortable room.
Can I keep my existing opener?
Possibly. The selected door, weight, balance, clearance and opener condition must be assessed together. A pass-door assembly adds compatibility and safety requirements that need particular attention before an operator is specified.
What should I prepare before installation?
Agree on access, vehicle parking, removal arrangements and space around the opening. Let the team know about low headroom, ceiling obstructions, electrical work or planned changes to the opening before the door is ordered.
