Wayne Dalton 8300

An insulated steel sectional door in Wayne Dalton’s Classic Steel range. The shared 8300/8500 brochure must be read by model: their thermal specifications differ.

What to know before you choose

A homeowner comparing an insulated traditional steel door. Start with the opening and track requirements, then select the panel design, windows, and finish.

Make sure the proposal says 8300 if those are the specifications you intend to buy. The shared brochure also covers 8500 and all-glass variations; do not transfer figures between them.

Construction

Insulation
Polyurethane
Published R-value
12.12 (calculated door-section value)
Published U-factor
0.15 (manufacturer’s tested configuration)
Appearance

Thermal figures need context. R-value and U-factor describe different measurements; they are not interchangeable. The manufacturer’s configuration and test notes matter, particularly when windows or construction change. Do not rank these doors on the largest R-value alone.

Official manufacturer documents

Manuals, installation information & brochures

Choose the document that matches your model, production version, and hardware. PDFs open on the manufacturer’s host; download and support pages take you to the manufacturer’s document selector.

Documents remain on their official hosts so you can check for revisions. A working link does not establish compatibility with a different model.

How to identify the right door specification

  1. Read the equipment label. Look for the manufacturer and model label on the inside of the door. If it is missing, use your original invoice or ask for an inspection.
  2. Match the configuration. Match the construction, dimensions, glazing, track, and spring arrangement. A brochure can cover several different doors.
  3. Read the document scope first. Check its model list, language, revision, and warnings before using a diagram or procedure.
  4. Stop if the equipment does not match. Send clear photos through our contact page rather than guessing a part or adjustment.
If the door is crooked, a cable is loose, a spring is broken, or the door drops unexpectedly, stop operating it and arrange service. Do not adjust spring tension, loosen bottom brackets, or bypass safety devices. Installation documents are technical references, not a substitute for appropriate training.

Your 8300 questions

Does the 8500 brochure specification also apply to the 8300?

No. Wayne Dalton publishes different thermal values for these models. Check the model column, the glazing configuration, and the footnotes rather than using the largest number on the shared brochure.

Does a higher R-value guarantee a warmer garage?

No single published figure guarantees a room temperature. Air leakage, perimeter seals, windows, the rest of the garage, and how often the door opens also matter. Compare like-for-like test conditions and the actual specified door.

Compare within garage doors

Compare the published specifications, then read each guide’s fit and document notes. A product-family range is not an exact-model rating.
